I am setting up a 180 gal FOWLR that I am expecting to have a heavy bioload. The tank has a single overflow with a 1.5" drain, the pump is a Sicce 5.0 pushing water up 5.5' of head

My question is which Vortech for circulation mostly to keep the detritus suspended in the water so it can be removed via the overflow.

    MP40(s) or a MP60

id do two mp40s, 2 powerheads are always always always better then one.

or if you roll boss-nasty style, get one 60, and one 40.

2 MP40's and 2 MP10's, IMO. The MP40's on either side and the MP10's on the back behind the rock to allow good circulation and to get rid of detritus.

+1 to what 1.0 reef said. That combination and placement should be awesome as far as movement and detritus removal. Your hardscape will have a lot to do with deadspots though.
