I have heard sucss using them in conjunction with a prefilter as well, but put you hand in front of the output and feel how much the current is cut by....i dont like that. They do thier job if properly installed....but i like stronger randomized currents rather than repetitive. Hope it works out for you, let us know :)

I figured for $30 it would not be bad to test it. I like to test drive things if you will. See what happens. If it works great, if not I will buy the wavemaster pro.

    Thanks,

$30 is a good deal! I have found they work best as described with big pumps.

I plan to get the Mag 12 as captivereef suggested. I have seen the scwd run on a mag 9.5 and it looked and functioned fine with that pump. I see the point in bumping up to the Mag 12 though.

Are there any other pumps you might suggest?

Depends on what you have in your tank. If you have low fow critters like xenia, most LPS, ect then i would go with a lower GPH pump......if you high flow critters lik SPS i would go with a higher GPH. I determine that something is working properly after its been up for a year or more.

I have some soft corals, 1 green montipora, zoo's, acropora, 2 anemones. I am trying to encompass all coraqls eventually. With that said, I am assuming you will say to stick with the 9.5 and see how that goes???

Not really for the money it is hard to beat the mag series pump for quality and performance.

    Darin,

I will be ordering the Mag Drive 12 from you this week. I have not even had a chance to look at the site yet sorry. What is shipping for that unit to 60563?

Thank you for your time. I got the SCWD today so I would like to get it up and running ASAP of course.
