Today I made a mesh top by way of BRS.




A few days ago I re-taped the back and sides, after I mistakingly removed all of the black plastic backing it came with. And I made a cardboard light cover for the sump area.




Hardly any white light escaping the tank with the Magna Fuge LED light turned on.

Huge improvement, myself and the fish can breathe a little easier now, and its jump proof.

 

Still the light that came with right?
Looks like the corals are doing fine with it?
Are the zoanthids reaching at all?
How long has the mini-maxi been in?

Yes, it is Skyye light. I am waiting for BuildMyLED to release their multi-channel, dimable fixtures any day now. Cara at BML said they would be out in 4-6 weeks on 02/12, so fingers crossed.

The corals are ok. The colors are crap, but the zoas and paly colonies are spreading so I know they at least have enough radiation to maintain homeostasis and bud. My yumas are not happy at all.

3 weeks, sits up top right under the light, and readily takes food.

 

Well it looks very sharp. I like the black sand as well.

I was wondering if that is why the mini is up high in the tank.

So basically the lighting would probably work for mushrooms and easier soft corals, maybe even some lower light LPS.

I have been looking at this tank and the Cadlight 8 gallons.

I hope the maxi will eventually find its was down into the sand, but its cool up there for now.

The problem with this light is its spectrum. My plan was to keep it all stock, and be happy until school is over. However, those 14K whites and underpowered 450nms (moonlights) just don't cut it for color rendition.

Cadlight 8 looks like a winner, and I am quite happy with the Nuvo 8, you can't go wrong either way.

My white banded possum wrasse will now eat live brine shrimp, frozen mysis, and New Life Spectrum pellets!!

And contrary to Live Aquaria, it is right there neck and neck with the blenny during feeding. Not shy at all.

Well, I have a load of homework plus 2 projects due before finals in 2.5 weeks, and a brand new Nuvo 16 on UPS flight at this moment.
