    Good pics, they help a lot.

    Definitely looks like you didn't rinse the sand too well.

    Don't know what kind of filter you have, but I would pick up some filter floss and use it to polish the water. The floss should pick up a lot of that dust.

    A canister filter would be perfect for this.

    After you change that out a few times, it should be better. Then I would clean the impellers on the pumps.

    It's a drag, but easier than breaking down the tank completely and thoroughly rinsing the sand and starting over.  :p
