I have these smaller-than-pinhead snails everywhere in my tank. 15-20 on the glass at any given time, and 50+ (that are visible) on the LR. 1 LFS said theyre harmless ...another LFS says I need a wrasse to eat them and that they can be harmful in high numbers. Ive always had them in small numbers but theyre repro-ing like mad. What type of snail? Are they harmful, longterm? Seems my fish dont eat them. NOTE: upper left corner of the pic.

    Good sign of tank maturing
My mandarin pops the shells. Really freakin weird.

Edit: Didn't see the NOTE: sorry bout that, lol! Not spirorbid worms.

I thought maybe mini turbo/ collonista snails also but the shell is almost transparent, and appears to be soft, very different than the aforementioned snails. every single one is white/ clearish. Worms in a snail shaped shell? There are 2 tiny antenta on each. Also, I have a few scypha sponges that have begun to appear ...are they safe to have?

I have hundreds of those in my overflow, and they're also clustering all over the glass in the sump.

I don't think they're spirorbids, and I'm pretty sure they aren't Collonistas either. There are a bunch of little almost-transparent snails in the ocean that are shaped like that, but it's going to be tough to ID them. As far as I know, none of them are harmful. Are the adults that tiny, too? If you could get macro photos of an adult, showing how wide/tall, etc., I might be able to get it down to family, or species if I'm lucky.

    Cheers,

    Don

my turbo snails are constantly reproducing.... you may have the same issue. Really not a bad issue... prevents spending money on your snail population when the die.
