my yellow tang has a white strip that i dont think was there when we got him a week ago. Im confused about it b.c he's in the quarantine tank. i had a damsel that was attacking it but we moved the damsel to a different tank the first day. putting a picture up.

    Hi Deverrs

how big is the Quarantine tank?

how big is your main tank?

    stress often causes this

neither tank is suitable for that fish IMHO - the white fading can often be a sign of stress and in a 30 gallon tank the fish will feel cramped - the situation is going to get worse in the 10 and not better IMO

sorry that once again I am posting something that is dissapointing for you to read

I do hope anyone else who follows this thread, will not feel the need to put stronger emphasis on the situation (Please)

Steve's right, the white stripe is a sign of stress if it stays during the day(too small a tank, bullying, shipping, water conditions, etc). Most of the time the white stripe will be a little visible at night or early morning but should fade away during the day.

I agree. The stripe is much more prominent at night.

Picture looks like it was taken at night. In the day the stripe turns yellow to match the rest of the Yellow Tang's color. You can still see the stripe because the texture is a bit different. If this is what you are seeing it is perfectly normal.
