Its been two weeks since I received my mangroves. All five seem to be in good health but the longest of them seems to accumulate some white filmy stuff on the bottom part where the roots will sprout. I rinse most of it off by moving it back and forth in the fuge but wanted to know if anybody knew what this stuff is. White mucous looking stuff.

They are as still as possible, I just rinse the weird stuff off once a week by shaking it in the water a little. Do you know what it is?

Yes I did, and they seem to be in great health, little bumps where the roots will sprout, its jus one of them that gets this white mucousy stuff on the bottom, the longest of the 5

They sure aren't still when you rinse them off. I wouldn't do that.

To hard to tell what it is with no pics. Could be bacteria... Could be fungus... etc etc

yeah looks like a fungus kinda might just be .when i had those on mine health just keep declining .so now when ever i get mangroves i leave them in freshwater for a week (i use sunlight but u can use cfl) and no more white stuff plus roots begin to grow faster when i transer them back .that always works for me plus mangroves are pretty tough they can take the movement from fresh to salt pretty good also make sure ur mag is up 1320ppm

My mag is bout 1400, the stuff is only at the bottom of a single mangrove, the biggest one that reaches the deepest into the water, and takes about a week to accumulate. Ive only rinsed it twice so for me to move it in the water once for 2 seconds in an entire week is pretty still as they have no roots, so that is not my problem. Thanks. They all looks great but if I see that one deteriorating than ill toss it before the "fungus/bacteria" gets to the others.
