I am so upset! I have a 4 month old biocube29. I have 2 clown fish, a zoa, a very small emerald crab, a turbo snail, astro (?) snail, and a purple polka dot lobster with orange claws who hides all the time. Over the weekend my manderian goby was missing. I found his skeleton right next to the lobster. I figured he died :( for whatever reason and the lobster cleaned up for me. Today at 2:00 when I turned mt tank lights on my xenia was perfectly fine. At 6:30 I noticed my xenia plug had become dislodged and I picked it up to put it back and the xenia is totally and completely gone!!! This was my second piece of coral and I was really enjoying it. I called the LFS and they said it's pretty unlikely the lobster ate it. They thought that maybe it had come off the plug and told me to search the tank for it. I have looked everywhere and it's no where to be found. Does anyone have any clue if this lobster would eat an entire piece of coral? It was probably covered a plug that's an inch in diameter and about 2.5 inches tall. Any idea's what I should do?

Agreed ^^ I've heard it is pretty unlikely but ive heard from a few people they do eat soft corals if there isnt enough algae to sustan him or it got hungry then it will.

^^ I second that. It's definitely the Emerald. I actually "baby sat" an emerald crab for a friend and it started eating all of my coraline algae and leaving ugly white spots all over the rock and I caught it eating my Xenias as well. I placed it into the refugium after that. It was also eating the chaeto while it was in the fuge.

He hasn't touched my zoa's. And I still have quite a bit of hair algea here and there. You think the emerald would eat ALL of it?

I actually didn't have an issue with it eating my Zoas but maybe it was just because I had removed the emerald before it got to my Zoas.

I'm really sad. I've had the emerald crab since week 3. I guess he's making a trip to the LFS this weekend.

My Emerald Crab went rogue and ate a Peppermint Shrimp and 3 Chromis, yet he NEVER touched any algae ::) I brought him back to the LFS the next day.
