    Hello Everyone,

Fisrt off I would like to say that I've been having incredible luck with my system. A couple months past cycle and everything seems to be doing fine. Except my poor little hermits. Every so often I will see some legs and a head roll by. I've found 3 so far and all found the same way. I have my suspicions that it may be my serpent star, but I have been direct feeding him now on a daily bases. Aside from my star I have 4 chormis, 1 blenny, a sand sifter star, a cleaner shrimp, a sally light foot along with a variety of snails and hermits. I also have some xenia and button poylps, but I don't think they would have anything to do with the hermits death.

If it is the star should I just increase the amount I am feeding him? I just want to make sure he eats all of the food. I don't want to take a part my rock structure to siphon out the uneaten stuff. He usually hides under a rock so I can't see him physically it. I have watched him eat this specific food multiple times so I know he does eats it.

    Anyone have any ideas?

Are you sure it's not just molting off of the crabs? It fooled me the first time I seen it.

I have 5 small crabs that have been in 3 different tanks for a 1 1/2 years. I see a molt floating around about maybe once a month. These guys I have seem indestructible lol good luck

Its probably molted parts. I used to have a freshwater tropical tank with crabs in it and my husband came to me because one of our crabs had died. I looked and it was just an empty case and all 3 were still alive.
