Ice Cap makes a nice lunar LED lighting system. there not badly priced either. the have a heat sink and everything. all you have to do is plug it in. I got one for my 46 bow which is 36'' for 50 dollars at my LFS. i run that one strip with 2 20k MH and i personally think it makes it a whole other tank.

thanks for the thoughts and pictures. im still confused as to what way to go as far as lights go. still kind of stuck on halide since i know i like the look of them. it just seems that most people that have halides supplement them with another type of light. that means now im getting into a large light and cant use a attractive pendent style. noticed the leds have a small pendent style so i wondered if i could get away with that.
i guess the conclusion is there is no such thing as a great aquarium lighting thats actually attractive

the lights have me baffaled as to what way to go with it. its a pricey mistake if i choose wrong.

The fans would be to prevent from overheating. Those are also the larger fixtures. I wouldn't think heat should ever be a problem with LED's.

I like the look of LED moonlight / lunar-lights. The T5 fixture I am getting doesn't come with them built in. What company & size would you recommend for my 55g? (48" long X 12" wide X 21" deep)

Pinkmiss, its a lot more expensive right now to buy an LED fixture that is capable of supporting great coeral growth... if you have the extra cash, be one of the first! Id love to see the pics! Good luck on your decision...

I've been running a Maxspect LED for about a month. Seems to be doing good. I had a problem trying to pick a new light do to the space under the canopy, Wanted MH but it would be too much heat..so LED it is! It only runs around 110 degrees and the fans are almost silent. I'm just worried about the quality of the LED bulbs..I replaced a few with some CREE ones just to see how they work. If it takes a crap anytime soon I'll let everyone know ;D
