A few of the hotels are already discounting it just for the event itself.

Nah my pants are not that smart :D

Kevin @ LA is a good friend of Sanjay's so Sanjay sends him frags and clowns when he has them, but Sanjay really doesn't bring stuff to events like MACNA. Now if this was a NCPARS, MR or LIRA event I suspect he'd drag some along since he's close to those areas :)

Who knows, maybe Kevin will drag some along ;) I'll pass the desire along to both and we'll see what sticks :D

Come by the Reef Nutrition booth, I'll give you something to bring home :D

I would love to see what Sanjay, and kevin each have to say. Unfortunately Sanjay will be presenting on Friday...so I won't be able to see him if I go to MACNA. Richard Ross has a good topic as well. There's so many good ones! haha

Vargas talks are fun! A lot of joking and inuendos. Sanjay's will be info packed, take a pen and paper. I'm looking forward to A. Calfo and Jim Stimes. Kevin is doing a demonstration in the Reefers Corner that should be interesting.

For anyone who will be going for the first time, take a big bag or someone to help carry stuff. Almost every vendor will have some kind of sample or tee shirt to give ya.

It would be my first time. If I do go I will be sure to bring a backpack, pen, and paper.

I really want to talk with Richard. I've done well with various cephalopods, including cuttles. However, for some reason I lost every single cuttle that hatched the last time and I want to know why.

To those who've never attended a MACNA, you really need to think about it. It's a lot of fun....especially when you get to talk with people who are just as crazy as you are about this hobby. There's tons of neat things to purchase as well as a lot of free samples. Here's some memories of prior MACNA's:

I remember the first time I met Tyree.....he was actually barefoot walking around the hotel (This was an IMAC).

When DSB's were becoming a big deal, Ron Shimek was in his element. However, at one IMAC he was answering questions to a bunch of hobbyists about DSB's before classes opened for the day. He was drunk as a skunk, looked like he slept in the shirt he was wearing, stunk to the high heavens, and was contradicting himself between people's questions. All of the hobbyists were taking notes. I just started laughing thinking to myself, "People, why are you taking notes from someone who is drunk at 8 in the morning?" (This was also an IMAC)

Eric Borneman sporting a pink and purple striped shirt.

I was given a free eco-aqualizer to review. (Let's just say that my review did not end up in the companies advertising literature)

Myself and a couple of other people organized a non-violent revolt at MACNA-Boston and before you knew it, everybody had their name tags turned inside out and they now stated, "We support Anthony Calfo".

Was at dinner with a number of the "names" in the industry. However, every time we tried to talk with each other the stupid penguins would make this horrible noise. I swear to God....the penquins were watching us waiting for someone to open their mouth before they did it.

Found out that Gregory Schiemer (RIP bud) wasn't a crabby old fart like I thought he was.

I helped a lot of people do their very first frags at MACNAs and IMACs with FragExchange. (BTW, I still do fragging classes....just not at trade shows. This is still one of my favorite things to do). I borrowed a line from the Karate Kid to encourage people who were afraid. Cut Coral Do....Fine, Cut Coral Don't...Fine, Cut Coral Halfway....Squish!!!

I went to the one in Atlantic City, it was such a great time. The raffles are like nothing I ever saw before. These mermaid girls were walking around and I was able to win my choice of a coral out of a tank and a refractometer just for spinning a wheel. Thankfully it was only an hour from me, which was great. I may never be able to attend one again, esp in Iowa or something.

Who's idea was it to have it in Iowa??? If it was at the Orange County Convention Center I would go ( In orlando) I vote they have it there one year!! It seems like a better place for a convention about aquariums seeing how well, its florida we have TONS of aqua life here! lol.

That place is huge too! i went to a Hot import nights car show there and the sheer size of that building is incredible.

Wish everyone going safe travels and good times! take TONS of photos please!
