Hmm,the rubber vibration eliminating feet are missing off the bottom of my pump (this one has the sedra 3500),but ran it overnight in a bucket of vinegar to clean it up (looks new now btw, lol) and found it to be pleasantly quiet. But see,now theres more mixed reviews, lol.

And yes I did find out they were taken over by Reef Dynamics, but thanks for that anyhow!

You must remember that noise level is very subjective. I would consider my current skimmer very silent but it's an ATB with the airstar pump. The euro reef was quiet with the stand doors closed but you could hear a slight hum sound. Still not something that I would consider loud.

Exactly,I could absolutely hear it running, but it was nothing of concern to me.

I think the biggest change in new skimmers is the efficiency of the pumps themselves. My new WM skimmer uses 12watts.;) Were as the Sedra uses 35.Thats not to say newer skimmers don't have other upgrades. My ASM skimmers are probably very comparable to this skimmer and I have to say the WM skimmer was a huge improvement on my tank and electric bill. :)

I have a older ER 6-2 skimmer on my 180, it is undersized for my bioload. I clean out my collection cup 3x a week. The skimmer is rock solid set it and forget it

Thanks guys, you're all making it hard on me,lol.I've done some more research and the more I read, the better this monster keeps sounding and makes me want to redo my sump to fit it in instead of reselling for lighting for my new setup.Decisions, decisions, lol

And Vinny, when you got kids that don't know a light switch can also turn a light OFF,ya don't sweat a few extra watts for a great skimmer ;)

euro reef (now reef dynamics) skimmers are nice well balanced skimmers. They perform well and I would recommend keeping it for sure.

I've had this "rigged" in my sump, temporarily until I move it to my other setup, for about a week and a half or so and it is by far the highest end and most productive skimmer i've owned to date.By the looks of the collection cup every morning,i'm gonna be more than pleased with this skimmer.
