I've asked a similar question in my thread, but I felt it got lost in there. I'm curious as to who runs these lights? What types of corals do you have under them? What size tank and do you think they are adequate or would prefer 250w MH?

I run 2 150W MH in my tank and they work "ok"... I would prefer the 250s because I haven't been able to keep many corals successfully in the past. I do not know if that is due to the lights or what but at the moment I only have 3 clowns and nothing else due to losing everything in the transfer from my 90 long to my 120.

I have a coralife 150w pendant over my neo nano (36 gallon).
This tank is only 12" from surface to sand and I am growing a lot of acros with absolutely no problem and would not consider a 250w in my case. Because it is so shallow I actually have to keep the halide a lot higher than normal. So I don't think my case applies to the norm. Is this for your 55 gallon?

Yea. I'm not too worried about upgrades as I dont' envision any larger tanks in the near future. I just want to make sure they can support the corals I have. I like the idea of a pendant vs. fixture because the pendants will provide much greater flexibility if I change tanks in the future to say a 40 breeder or something alone those lines.

Since it is your 55, I might suggest a pendant I was looking at - the Aqua Medic Ocean Light with halide(s)/T5 combo. I actually might get this for mine when I figure out how to mount it. I think you'd be ok with most corals if you place them appropriately.

Sure. Take it with a grain of salt as I have zero experience with that light. Just something I was looking at. It looks well made for the price, has a UV shield and doesn't need fans.
