    A little info before the question;

    I have always used a Ca reactor and continue to do so. I have it hooked up to a MPP Ph Controller and everything is rock solid KH 10.8 Ca 460.
    Some one recently had told me that over time I may experience low PH as a result of the Co2, and that I should add a Kalk reactor to keep the PH stable at 8.3
    My PH swings, at night it dips (7.85) and during the day it stays right at around 8.17-I have never got it to stay above 8.17, but it is consistent-which I have also been told is key.
    I have a PH monitor in the sump so I can see the level at a glance and lately have been seeing it get as low as 7.95-8.00 when all the lights are on.

    If anyone reads this they can share their opinion on whether adding that will be useful or "needed". I would think adding the kalk reactor would mess with my KH and Ca that is controlled by the controller?

    I'm sure I would then (need to ) buy like an Apex controller and sell the PH monitor and controller since the Apex will run everything

    I tank is 90% sps

    I run both because I can't keep my Ca in the mid 400's with only a Ca reactor. I run Kalk as a little boost to keep calcium up and to help with all the CO2 I am adding to the tank. You also have to remember it's winter and your house is shut up more causing CO2 to build up in your house. That too will exchange with tank water and bring your oxygen levels down which in turn lowers pH. Try bringing in some outside air over the tank and that will take care of the pH. Kalk is easy to use, just need a little money for the reactor.
