Why are Achillies Tangs considered an "Expert Only" fish?

    They are extremely sensitive, picky and aggressive. They make powder blue tangs look like damsels in terms of livability.

    I know, I feel the same way with the shrimpfish

    also they are very difficult to get to eat. most of the time they die from starvation, OR they die from disease.

    Unlike other tangs, they attack ALL large fish not just rival tangs.

    I read that they are collected from turbulent water, so they need a ton of flow.

    I know a few people that have kept them in community tanks with several other tangs too. There is something to be said for individual personality. Helps if they are added last, but then you need a robust specimen to not get stressed and die.
