I have had 3 sets of Ocelarius clowns and I keep killing them. The first set was my fault, I started a water change and forgot to turn the pump off and flooded the tank with micro bubbles.
The second set I have no idea at all. I think it was because a six line wrasse picked on them and stressed them out until they got sick and died.
Now this set, the first one died last night. I got them about a week ago and they have been refusing to eat at all. The other fish in the tank eat like pigs and are very healthy.
I still have one left but if it goes I will not get any more clowns at all.
Very sad because they were one of the reason's I wanted salt water.

Sorry to hear of your losses... Clowns have been my hardiest fish... I've had my pair for about 5 years and they are still kicking.. Maybe you have just been unlucky with your pairs... Don't give up!

Firstly, you need to be sure you get healthy fish.
Make sure that they're eating well before you buy them. Or change your supplier. Try another source.
Are they wild caught or tank bread?
The Tank bread fish usually have a better rate of survival.

I have a bubbler in the tank just for this purpose. Should that be good enough?
Yes I have a ground probe, and non of the other fish ever have a problem.
I really am at my breaking point with clowns....

I think you are right about my supplier, he said they were eating but wouldn't demonstrate for me.
Also I think these last ones were caught. If I try any more I will make sure they are tank bread.

Describe you setup, filters, rock, livestock, tank size etc. This is strange as clown are some of the hardiest fish. My first thought was where you were getting them from too.

Never take the word of someone trying to make a buck that they are eating. You must see them eating or you never know what you are getting

If he wouldn't feed them for you - that's not a good sign! I would go elsewhere for my fish from now on. And do try to buy tank bred, they are usually much healthier and hardier.

I have a 29g Biocube, my amonia 0, nitrates 0, I have a charcol filter and bio balls. I have aprox 25lbs liverock. I also have a McCoskers flasher, a Cardinal and a Royal Gramma.
I also have a BTA and 2 hermit crabs, 3 shrimp and assorted snails. All are rest are doing great. As well as my corals all doing good.
I really think it is the fish I am getting to start with too, because they never last more than a week or so.
