i got them 4 days ago.then spend most of the day in the front corner of the tank at the bottom but when i turn the lights off at night the come out and swim around the tank??

    why do they do this?
i know there are still new to the tank.

also i never see them going to the surface for air?
is this normal as i thought they were suposed to.

firstly just wanted to say that i personally have never heard of clownfish "going up for air?"sometimes they sit around the top of tank but thats usually for food, lol

what other tank mates/anemones, if any ,do you have in there with them? also size of tank?

sounds to me that they are in new surroundings and feel safer browsing it at night.

My two clowns stuck to the top/front/left corner of my tank for quite a while after they were added. When they did finally start moving around, they would do it at night.

They eventually acclimated and all is well.

+1 on jeth's reply on the air.

Few fish breathe air. In fact, the only fish that I can think of that do this are freshwater bettas.

they should indeed stay together most of the time(unless the male is not up to it and then she will kick him out,but this only happens with mating/egg rearing).
it does really sound like there unsure of there surroundings.
how old is the tank?,only asking as obviously they stress with a new tank, and having not fully matured/cycled water will only add to the mix. personally.if your tank is over say 6-8 weeks cycled, i reckon within another couple of days they will find their feet, i mean fins.lol
out of the box, are you going to add an anemone? only mention this as i have found within tanks that dont have one, they do tend to find an area and stay generally in it.i guess this is the area they call home...
HANG ON, DONT MUD SKIPPERS BREATH GODS GOOD AIR?? BUT ARE THEY A TRUE FISH???LOL
