I have been deployed with the military since the beginning of June... leaving my wife with my tank with no experience with dealing with it. Yeah problems like the tank overflowed one night (DIY Overflow got clogged because the blue filter wasn't changed every week) and one day the coral didn't look so hot.
    I have a small clam under 3"
    A blue hippo tang
    Leather coral
    carpet an.
    star polyps
    inverts etc
Anyways she finds the temp to be 91 degrees and yet..... EVERYTHING WAS STILL ALIVE.
The heater had shorted out and was pumping out massive amounts of heat.
She took it out, added some topoff water to cool it down some and by the next day with a new heater that night temps were normal and no lives lost.

After that the protein skimmer was overflowing in the sump (no water mess) and she gave that a good cleaning, then the timers quit working -- she was convinced the bulbs all blew out at once.
After all of this, not killing anything --- she still loves me -- only 4 more months to go but i do get a 4 day vacation back home next week.

Almost forgot...thanks for protecting our freedom. Prayers are with you..

Stay safe. I spent my time on "vacation" during Nov 2004- Oct 2005. Travel save a continue to watch your buddies and watch over you.

That is very nice of your wife, it's hard learning all the reefing stuff and harder to teach it.

Be safe and our prayers are with you!

Ditto's to all of the above comments. Thank you for serving our country and I'm thankful that your wife is succeeding at keeping your tank alive.
