Nothing like an animation to bring it home.

    Southern California ShakeOut

I did a sofa simulation where I "played along". I bounced a little when the first wave struck and then continued to bounce more and more as each stronger wave hit. Holy Cripers it's going to last a long time!

Watch the video of Palm Springs. Yikes. That's going to be a ride.

Anyway, so I'm preparing and getting a game plan going for the kids. We are not at a Tsunami risk because it's not that type of fault. We'll have a large Tupperware container stored in the structure outside full of supplies just in case the house is not accessible and the supplies would be trapped inside. More fireboxes for irreplaceables and store things at work, which is a hospital, and will probably be left standing. The tanks will be toast, but we might as well reinforce them for the smaller trembles until such time the larger one comes.

When you live with it all the time, it becomes only an after thought. Having a lot of Japanese friends, I realize we've been playing Russian Roulette.... and I've never been lucky.

From Hurricane country to this. Out of the pot and into the fire.....

I'll be showing some of our modifications to make our tanks more EQ proof.... stay tuned :)

I said to my husband last night "Please let my parents be dead (they live in Canada) and the kids be moved out of state if that Beast comes".

I hear you, I live in a very seismically active area but we don't get quakes above around 7. The ground in the area is expected liquify due to high water table and river silt and clay. The geologists claim we are overdue for our next 6+ earth quake. Wonderful.

One thing we did was make the stand a part of the house structure and used the half wall already in place.

Oh, and we have a generator. Should maybe think about getting a large tent.

Very true! It would take alot for us to Leave the area...of course being military kinda makes it even harder to leave if needed lol
