Do they make skimmers footprints so very big? I am having the most difficult time finding a skimmer that will work in my new tank....it is going to be a FOWLR tank, but is going to have a puffer in there so I want a really good skimmer.

The first skimmer I bought was the Red Sea C-Skim...that had a gigantic footprint that got bigger as it got to the cup. This one could be installed externally but I did not want to have it outside the sump.

So I returned it for the Current 225 g Fission Recirculate skimmer and that is more gigantic. While the footprint is small the pumps and the air diffusor hangs way out. I planned on moving this to my bigger tank and moving my ASM skimmer into that tank but it does not fit either. This time I thought I would install externally and it says you can not! So I drilled a small piece of the lip off my sump and tried to get it in and would not fit either.

So I guess it is back to the store with me tomorrow.....

the width is 16 inches wide and 10 inches wide from front to back....and all that has to go underwater. I have a 30g sump and it just wont fit....I dont understand why this can not be installed externally.

How much room do you have to work with? I know it's a 30g sump, but is part of it a fuge?

the middle chamber is 16 inches long...but due to a lip it is only 8 inches wide. The total size of the sump is 36 inches, and 14 inches wide...so there is a 3 inch lip on each side ?????dont know why they made the lip so big either
