Why is my overflow gargling???

    also try the airline tubing down the drain......it helps

    There's only one way to remidy this problem. the reason you get the noise is because the surface of the water in the overflow box is so close to the boxe's drain, allowing the vilosoty of the water to take in air as well, ie the noise. you need to put a ball valve in the drain pipe. as you slowly close the valve it will cause a restriction makeing the water rise in the box. as the water rises it creates a bit of water pressure in the box allowing the water to push itself through the resteriction to a point where the flow rate of the return pump is matched. you will have to play with the valve to find the right point where everything works well together.

    Thanks for all of the helps guys but I have the issue resolved for now. My tank is super quiet at this point and the overflow is running smoothly.

    I ended up straightening out the drain line, it's a straight shot down now, and played with the return pump flow.

    Yeah, worked like a charm. I had to pull a shelf out of my stand and cut a notch in it, but it's working now so it was worth it. Thanks for the advice.
