It is dividing or looking to move to another location. You may have it in a place that it gets more light or flow than it wants. You will most likely have a little shroom wherever any flesh is left.

It has only been in that spot. seemed to be doing fine. (only been in the tank for a week, and is in direct flow) do i move it myself or just let it do its own thing. will moving it myself kill it. (handling it?)

You won't do it any harm moving it or letting it move. I let mine detach before I moved them. You may have to glue it in place. They do seem to like lower flow areas and lower light.

Its just starting the overall domination of your tank, nothing to worry about if you like mushrooms. Mine go like baby teeth, one large one will get loose and eventually fly away, and another (or 3) will pop up in its place.
