I would say it is cloudy but that does not quite fit. The rocks in the front of the tank are clear to look at but 24" behind that they are "hazy". My tank has been up for 8 weeks and I added my live stock 2 weeks ago. last week I did have a bad diatom bloom so it may just be after effects from that?

    here are the parameters:

    Ammonia 0

    Nitrite 0

    Nitrate 5.0

    PH 8.4

    DKH 10.5

    CA 400

    Mg 1200

    Thanks,

    Will

What are you using to clean the glass? are you running a carbon reactor?

also did you just change your carbon?
because if you didnt rinse it off it will leach a bit into the water

Are you using RO/DI water or tap water? When I first started with tap water, it was pretty hazy too.

It is acrylic and I use Coralife acrylic buffer polish spray with a fine grade cleaning cloth. The inside is cleaned with an acrylic safe mag float.

I have never used carbon before.

    I use RO/DI water.

    Should I start running carbon?

    Running carbon wouldn't hurt.

A carbon reactor will go miles in making the water clear. I am not sure on acrylic, but I noticed a HUGE difference in my glass when I switched away from windex, it was unbelievable what it did for the look of the tank. Only reason I asked.

You used windex on your fish tank? I was always told that was a big no no and not to clean even the outside of the tank with anything other than water and a cloth.

Are you using tap water to clean the outside? If so it may be leaving calcium deposits on the glass.
