I love this site how it is now and really dont want to see a good site go bad with the negative influences that TOTM brings with it.
You can say the same thing for the featured tanks on the homepage that matt spoke of earlier. I've been on a lot of forums I never saw someone argue about totm before, there is no reward or prize to be political about, others can argue that only tanks with the best equipment or they know someone that they were chosen to b featured on the home page. TOTM on other sites tend to be somewhat elitist, and not what this site is about in my opinion.... I am in envy and awe of some of those tanks, but I like the level playing field we have here. You can start your own tank thread if you like, but it's not shoved down everyone's throats. I like posting here and reading here better than any other forum... no need to change what works!

 

I think I'd rather see a picture of the month over a tank of the month (no idea if they have one or not). I think it would be more interesting because it could be an individual coral/fish or a full tank shot, which I think would open it up a lot more for a wide range of people at various levels of tanks.

But overall I agree, no on the TOTM

 

We do have to close threads sometimes as part of our jobs. We don't close them because we are offended though. There are a lot of factors that go into deciding to close a thread and we debate with each other often to come with a consensus. If you have issues with a different forum, that's fine. Please don't bring those issues with other forums here.

We certainly listen to our members. A Tank of the Month might happen eventually. It's not going to happen now though.

The "site Gods" never said no. certain members have said no. atleast two mod/s have said it was a possible but not a probably for now.

even still, the Wright Brothers didnt learn how to fly by giving up the first time they crashed dude. lol

I am kinda shocked at the pesmistic reviews I have got from this idea. I thought thats what these sites are for is to suggest new ideas from the community. If somone doesnt want to get involved in it, thats fine but just saying it shouldnt be on the site period is not making much sense to me. Not one person have I heard make an argument to any of the positives that I sggested a TOTM brings.

. It would be a 1 thread topic, that was voted once a month. Its not a forum takeover/overhaul. and as far as popularity contest.well this is online adult forums not High School. Who cares if somone is more popular.

Thats all you can ask for. Would you be opposed to the member run TOTM or BETA as others suggested?
