Oh that is a good one!

    What sps is that ?

Look like a night pic as well.

Some of my colonies have great extension and one really nice arco has none. It is a small tank so placement is really not that diverse in the system.

Both shots at night. Some of my acropora show good PE at night only, some during the day only. One all the time and one never.

Very nice! Are those first shots pictures of a RP? Kind of looks like it.

    Hey Mainstream,

Yes it is a RP, I just love the pink tint.

The second is a Langston's Seafoam, it is a teal, green blue but the lighting does not capture it. It has polyps much bigger than the ones in this particular picture.

Curious thing and maybe you can help me understand it.

The aquacultered sps show much better PE, is it that just because they have been aquacultered or does it have more to do with the type of acropora?

Its a good question and I don't think I can say for sure one way or another. Both do affect the PE on the acro but I think it is mostly genus and species related although it all is situational. Generally speaking, the more healthy the coral is, the more PE it is going to show. When new corals come in, they actually have a lot of polyp extension due to the ocean's stability. With that being said, aquacultured corals are obviously much more hardy than newer corals. The new corals are going to show less PE if they are not completely happy and I think parameter stability is best for more PE on them.
