    has anybody seen this before? it is a 4 leg sand star.is that common?it is not missing any legs!![​IMG][/IMG]

    SAND SIFTING STAR! i have one and it lost a leg or 2 lol...dont know why they r cool little fellers that sift the top of you sand :)

    i have had mine for about 2 years...i dont know why its losing legs...cuz i dont see any infection is almost looks like a rock fell on it or somthing...really weird cuz their legs look almost segmented to...well...they r cool little critters :)

    yeah but have you seen a 4 legged one? this one never grew a 5th leg!!!

    maybe born like that, some stars have more than 5 legs...prolly some have less :) but to me it looks like a sand sifting star :)

    You might try feeding it more than just what it can find in the tank. Buy a bottle or two of copepods, culture part of them and throw the rest in the tank. Then as your culture grows you can feed out of that.

    I have heard (not sure if it is true or not) that they start losing legs because they eventually starve to death. Everybody has a different experience with them so the subject is still open for debate.

    oh i know it is a sand sifter,i just think its rather unique that it looks like an "x"......about the copepods i have alot of those in my tank.see em' all over my tank!
