Honestly, I hate saying this, but i'd pull him and get him on a broad spectrum medication in a hospital tank, and try some new foods out! I hate pulling a fish, but he looks BAD. I'd also try another source for fish!

I'm really tempted to cycle a new tank and keep this one running in the mean time. I don't know why (my specs are ideal), but I can't get any growth (algae and coralline algae included). There is very little "life" in my tank (which has been setup for a year, lights on for 3-months). My CUC and shrimp seem happy, but my clowns don't and my two corals (mushroom and zoa) stay mostly closed (but they may still be from the ich treatment a week+ ago as they were open prior to that). I'll give it a little more time and see if the new ATI bulbs, salt and magnesium addition (was at 900 ppm) does that trick.

I started with all dead rock (added one live rock to seed, but kept lights off for 10 months), maybe that's my issue? Maybe I'll add another "seed" piece? Even at that, I had a lot of pods in my tank (prior to ich treatment) that came in with my macro algae 2 months ago, but I still have white rocks. I'll give it another month and if those items don't spark "life", then I'm out of options and I will only assume there is a contaminant in my tank.

My first setup was much better.

I'm hoping someone else chimes in here for ya. But I don't think its a contaminant since your shrimp is doing good. I'd do what you say and get another seed rock. Make sure it has some corralline on it. It honestly sounds more like a LFS problem too me! If anything I'd set up the hospital tank, and keep the clown in it for 8 weeks and keep your DT fallow, that should ensure any disease in there dies off.

Thats easier than a complete restart! good luck;)

I'll try the new rock, get mag up and introduce the new bulbs within a week and see what happens. What kind of meds would u recommend?

honestly, I'm not a med expert at all.

I did use Instant ocean lifeguard when my 2 clowns got some form of parasite which resulted in some weird growths/poo's. They're both still alive and kicking today. I think the issue you'll have is if your fish has enough strength left in him.

Here's a decent link, Fish Fecal Disorders

So has the fish ate anything as of today? there's a food I use called Cyclopeeze, tiny red sprinkles it looks like when dissolved. Usually comes frozen (recommended). Nothing can resist the yummy taste of Cyclopeeze.......................lol. Good luck. I really hope that fish pulls through.
