Yea i plan on going there tomorrow and see what he's got.

But any ways, Those people whom have been just adding *declorinator* to their make up water (to normal tap water) take a look at my RO/DI unit .
This is only 6 month old , they were brand new in Jan. 08.

After a close friend of mine was having problems with tissue loss with a coral that lives near me' it was discovered that he only uses tap water and only adds declorinator to the make up water for his reef.

Take a look at my Unit here, needless to say any one thinking that having good clean water for your reef isint all that important, ( think again ).



Thats the first filter the water comes to, ( see the iron ) ??? and only after 6 months of use and as you can see the charcoal filter to the left is getting some of it to.

Now i live in KY and it's well known that all these states "circled" here and roughly in this circle that we have coal mines,copper and iron around in these states.
I highly recomend that you invest into a decent RO/DI unit.

 

Really helpful post buddy! there is a lot of stuff that goes in to your tank w/o an ro/di unit
It would take 2 days just to test all of the other unwanted minerals that we put in on tap water and a lot needless test kits.....karma your way bro!

 

I still need an ro/di unit and really underestimated the need for one untill now, that is amazing, so much crap there, I will invest in one asap!!!!

 

My nitrate control method simple but effective.



My tanks running around 10ppm , if they do drop all i need do is remove some of these little fella's boil some water and get some butter and a cold Bud-light...LOL.
Oh these little fella's don't need light to thrive all they do is burry them selves in the sand and extend their siphon to the sand service and filter feed only.

I just have a light there now to show you guys.
