My tank is slowly getting overrun with tube worms. I don't mind that they're there, but it's getting out of hand. To-date, they have pretty muched wiped out a zoa frag and I see some that have spread to other zoas and now on the stalk of a caulestrea. I'm worried that they're going to wipe out more of my corals.

I was looking at a Dottyback or a Wrasse for my next fish. I was leaning towards the wrasse as my tank is pretty peaceful, but I'm looking for something with a lot of color. Will a flasher or a fairy wrasse eat tube worms? If not, has anyone had any success with Dottybacks keeping them thinned out? Any other suggestions?

I've attached a picture. This is a photo from a few months ago. You can see the worm fans mixed in with the zoa polyps. At this point, the polyps are about gone and all that's left is a mass of tubes and fans.

    Thanks for the help.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Peppermint shrimp and Arrow crabs will eat them but they come with their own issues.

Peppermint shrimp also eat aptasia and sometimes the munch on corals.
Arrow crabs can get large fast and steal food from LPS while doing physical damage. Arrow crabs love bristle worms as well.

As with all filter feeders, tube worms need suspended particle to feed on, reduce the available food source and they will eventually die back.

Personally I would avoid Dottybacks in smaller tanks.

Fairys and Flashers feed on zooplankton. (So no, they won't touch them)

if you go the dottyback route look into the tank raised orchid dottysbacks. they are not aggressive , and can be and i feel are best bought in 2's as juveniles . they often more than not pair when bought small, and are great to watch as a pair. I'm not sure if they will eat tube worms though. but they do eat bristle worms. i have seen mine eat a bristle worm.

Thanks for the comments. I'll try to increase my filtration in the short term to see if that helps.

If not, does anyone have any experience with this guy? I don't have ornamental shrimp or feather dusters, so I'm not worried about that. Will this guy go after soft corals?
