I got a chalk basslette for my tank and after QT for a couple days put him in my main tank. He swam around a bit at first, then my female clown went after him. He hid up between my power head and the glass, then was chased again when he came to eat. He dove into a hole down kind of on the bottom of a rock and I haven't seen him since. This was 3 days ago. Do you guys think I'll ever see him again, or should I try and find him and get him back out or just keep waiting?

I have had my Royal Gramma Basslet for several years now, and he...or she, has proven to be VERY submissive and shy. He barely gets much food, its an effort for me to get him some because during feedings my pig clown and damsel eat it up and the basslet is too timid to go up and get some for himself. I just added and bunch of coral on 3/17 and haven't seen much of my basslet since. I know where his "hiding" spot is because its in plain view from the side of my tank. Give him time but I would expect your basslet to be like mine. Timid, shy, nervous, submissive.....its a cool lookin fish tho. :) And hey! We're both in Denver!

I introduced a gramma into a tank that had a Damsel for a resident. The gramma was quickly battered and hid like yours behind a powerhead. I had to remove the damsel, but with time he was out swimming in the middle of the tank. He was even inquisitive when you would aproach the tank. Try to hang around the tank more often, and feed very small amounts frequently. I tried that and the fish recovered in a few weeks. Be patient. Good luck.
