well today i went to home depot.. and i saw this cool lights cheap and all. This are T8 with only 38watts. 4 bulbs

now im not keeping any coral yet. until i get my real lights( probably until February) . this is just so that the fishes look better and so that i have some type of light.

will it be ok if i got those? they are the kinda the lights you would use to light a room, not specifically made for aquariums. but they are 4 foot long ( my tank is 6) and are daylight lights. i wanted to get 1 or two blue light just so it look cool.
it wont hurt my fish if i get those right?

Nope.. From the specs of the light you gave, you'll be fine.

Lighting itself doesn't affect fish.. The only thing you would really have to worry about is temperature but you should be fine. What size tank? 125g?

and then after you get your next fixture you can keep these little ones for supplemental lighting if need be... maybe get some actinics for them and keep 10K or 6500K in your larger fixture so you can get more intensity for future corals! :)

150G. i was about to buy them today, but my brother-in-law told me that maybe those could hurt them since they werent made for fish specifically. i started having my doubts so i didnt buy... lol so i decided to ask.

ok so since no harm(right?).. ill buy them sometime this week. after getting my first fishies on monday.

be careful with the spectrum on the bulbs, the stock bulbs may encourage algea growth and are usually too yellow in color

One thing to be aware of with lights like this is that they usually do not have water resistant end-caps and other wiring etc so you will want to be a little more careful with them around water and they will corrode much faster than lights made for aquariums.
