do you have a holder for the sock? you should look into that. also, water flow through fuges is meant to be slow as to get as much out of the macro as possible. good luck!

I cant slowdown my pump; It’s about 250 gph. Would it help if I put some of the algae in the DT?

As far as the holder, I’m good at diy;D

This may seem dumb, but I’m not familiar with the size of a micron. Which has smaller holes, 100 or 200 micron filter sock.

miocrobubbles are harmless in most cases. But they can irritate corals and even give cyano a head start.

The way my sump is configured, I have a small return section and if I forget to topoff, I come home to a tank full of bubbles because my return pump is half out of the water. I have some flat chalices that the bubbles accumulate under and every time it happens my chalices shed this goop. This also happens with a lot of my other corals, most of them react to it in some way or another. This is after 8 hours of extreme bubbles though, not a light mist. My tank starts to look like a giant skimmer chamber. So in small quantities, bubbles are fine, but if your tank stays filled with bubbles for 8 hours like mine, its going to cause a little havoc, always reversible though as I have never had anything die or recede from it. Just annoy them and fuel cyano because of the bubbles building up and breaking down instead of floating to the surface and popping.

+K fish-aholic 94 your idea made my day because of the mental picture I envisioned.

I have the same problem as mattheuw1 due to the baffle height/max fill level for my retun chamber so my sump doesn't overflow in the event of a power outage. I'll be cutting the baffle size down tonight which will hopefully correct this problem by allowing a smaller waterfall height and higher fill level in return chamber.

If the micron sock does not work I would look to a DIY solution to divert most of the water over/around your fuge if that's where the bubbles are coming from. I'm not sure how your sump is set up though so i'm not certain.

neither a 100 or 200 micron filter sock stopped my microbubbles. i tried everything and all sorts of ideas to stop them. even redesigned my sump with baffles....stuffed the baffles full of filter foam. this is what i am doing now and it seems to be helping alot. i got an air bubbler stone and pump and placed the air wand in my baffle. it makes a flow of large bubbles that go right to the surface. the large bubbles collide with the micros and form large bubbles that go to the surface. place a piece of filter at the surface to stop any water spray.

My fuge works opposite of what most peoples does.
I don’t have an overflow in my tank, so I improvised. The tank has a powerhead that pumps water up to my fuge, wher it gos thru my mangroves & macro algae, then overflow down to my tank. When it overflows back to my tank, it brings micro bubble with it. So doing anything to my fuge wont do anything. That’s why I want to get a filter sock to trap the bubbles, so they don’t go allover my tank.

Good idea, I didn’t even think of that. I will try that now.

I don’t have baffles in my fuge, so I just put it in the overflow
    But it didn’t work.
