I actually think it IS impossible. I've seen a dwarf fuzzy lion eat a clown and have heard of it first hand. We put live fish in all our tanks awhile ago and some fish looked at the live fish and then looked to us for frozen. Then ended up eating the live......

    LOL poor fishes :(

I was hoping one day all my fish would reach adult size and be 2 big for a dwarf lion to eat them....haha but probably wont ever happen.

By then, you'll love your lion so much, it won't matter. :)

Once dominance is established they will usually live peacefully IME.

What about the trigger, just out of curiosity? This question is to the lionfish experts, is the trigger safe with the lion?

I'm glad to hear that you're giving your little girl her nemos in her own tank. Getting rid of the nemos I saw from the beginning of the thread was not going to be an option :)...I'm just curious whether the lion could potentially eat the niger? I love niger triggers! They are such awesome fish to watch swim and their coloration is so cool under reef like lighting.....

I addressed this on the first page. No, the lion is not okay. They may live together just fine but one day he will come home to a dead lionfish. The trigger will pick at the spines of the lionfish and tear them off.

Something my LFS does not understand either. Every single time I've went there they've had a trigger with a lionfish in a tank and the lion would always have a spine or two ripped off. I tell this them every time and I just get "ok"

Actually, planktonic-feeding triggers tend to get along with lionfish, altho there are always exceptions with individual fish. The planktonic genera include Xanthichtys, Melicthys, and Odonus. The lionfish should be well-established first, IMHO.

There's a good video of this in our Lionfish Care Guide. Scroll down to the section on P. volitans and click on it.

Kinda depends on the LFS, but I recently showed a poor fuzzy dwarf that was in with a toby to the staff at one of our LFS, and they had no idea, but did move the toby immediately. Unfortunately, it was too late for the fuzzy...

    Read your thead title,

    then read:

Does a Wild Bear defecate in the woods?

    ;-)

Edit- I stated wild bear, b/c when I used to coach swimming, I asked a few swimmers that question to answer a question, and this bright girl said, 'not if he lives in the zoo!'
