I guess I should rephrase. I know they CAN, because I've seen polyps sprout from frag plugs I could have SWORN I left no tissue on.

But is there a method anyone can recommend for making this happen more successfully? I have some pieces of mat that I'd REALLY like to see grow.

    Any ideas??

I know of none other than trying to give them the best environment to grow and thrive.

+1, good water quality and the appropriate amount of light is all I'm aware of, and make sure there's no pests or no fish picking at them.

Pretty much what Screwtape and 2in10 said. A little TLC is just about all you can do (That I know of anyway....who knows, there could be some miracle goo that does the trick. I just like good ol fashioned TLC)

It depends on how big the piece is and what part of the polyp. And then water quality.
