It tightened up for a while, but overall the USA still leads China and now with only a few days away they seem likely to keep it. Of course China will likely top the 50 gold medal mark which is quite a feat (they had 36 in the 2004 games.)

102 overall for USA and 89 overall for China last I checked.

Yes, they will! The United States is going to be getting a couple more gold medals since China may be disqualified in gymastics due to an underaged gymnist
Then, steroids have been rearing their ugly head again as two gold medalists are going to be stripped of their medals.

China is actually leading the USA - statistics are based on the number of gold medals a nation has won, not total number of medals won. Although the USA will probably take hope the most medals in total, the Chinese are still winning, and their lead is pretty significant :p

Of course we will!! It will be close on the gold count, but overall we will get the most. Once everything is sorted out with the cheating Chinese and the steroids issue, things will hopefully even out a little bit on the golds. Here is the current top 3:
    Gold Silver Bronze Total
    1. China 47 17 25 89
    2. United States 31 36 35 102
    3. Great Britain 18 13 13 44

It could end up being three of China's female gymnasts. But that's only if the IOC turns out to not be a bunch of a--clowns. So, they will probably end up keeping them.
