I have a fug that is running for a while. But I sand was not deep enough, so I cut off the flow into my main tank and added more sand on top of the current sand bed. I added an inch of it. Also, added some fug mud on top. Now, it's still cut off from the dt and have a power head in there.

My question is after the sand is settled and cleared out, should I reconnect to the dt? Will the fug have its own cycle? Thanks for the reponds.

your refugium shouldn't need to cycle because theres no livestock in it, even if there were the plants would absorb most of the waste
