will this melt?

    i have a 40 gallon acrylic that will be set up for my brother as soon as i finish piecing it together so probably just after christmas....i have a light fixture laying around that has a mh bulb in the center and a set of pcs on either side.....now the acrylic tank has a center brace made of acrylic will the mh melt through this or should i be safe? also would me raising the fixture above a certain height it will be ok?

    It will melt and warp the brace.

    i figured....worth a shot as i dont know the melting temperature of acrylic...what if the light was raised ~12" above the tank? still no good?

    The heat will still warp the brace.

    alright thanks :-/ i guess back to the drawing board for the lights and ill have to pick up a different set...anything you would personally recommend for a tank that shallow for a diverse reef?
