Will this work with a Zoa?

I got in a frag of 12 heads of Eagle Eye Zoa on a plug. They came off the plug after a couple of days. So I glued it directly to the rock next to where the plug was. After a couple of days it came off again. Found them in a 10 and 2 head clump. Glued them directly to the rock in two spots (big clump up front, 2 head clump along the back of the rock work). And after 2 days they came off again.

    Gel super glue, BTW.

So now they both have a nice little "base" made of dried super glue. And I'm not going to glue them again. Tired of it.

So my question is if I take a needle (like a sewing needle) and stick it through the glue base into the rock - what kind of ball park time frame am I looking at for the Zoa to grow enough to attach itself to the rock (I guess grow over the super glue base). Like a month or like 6 months?

And the needles I have are typical needles... after cleaning them, would they be safe?

    Thanks

Use a rubber band instead of the needle if you are not going to glue. I wouldn't put any metal in there.

No. If you spike the zoa too deeply it will kill it.
Ive never had a problem with the glue. Are you gluing out of the water or in it?

I just went through this also, I've superglued to polyps (eagle eye) to a plug and they keep coming off also. I know luna posted some stuff that he uses a while back but can't find the thread.

Just use the glue again and place the frag/zoas in an isolated area. This keeps current and clumsy hermits/snails away. Use a clear plastic container or something.

I agree with this, done it before and the zoas self attached to the rock they were rubber band to.

I've heard the 'use a rubber band' so many times, but for the life of me, it just doesn't make sense. Maybe with a frag plate... but how in the world do you rubber band to a rock? I feel like I'm in an alternate universe where everyone else's rock has some sort of little area suited for bands! ;):-/

I'm gluing outside of the water... and then attaching it under water - once under water I hold it in place for 30-60 seconds... it holds for a few days and has held my other corals and frag plates in place. It's just this one won't hold. What gets me is that it is holding to the Zoa fine, it's coming off the rock.

I've tried holding the gel outside of the water for different durations (from 0-30-60 seconds) before putting it in the water to varying degrees of success. For the rest of the coral, holding glue in air for 30 seconds does the trick. Not these though.

I also don't get putting them in a low flow restricted access area... because at some point, I'm going to want to glue that little piece of rock or whatever and I'll be in the same boat.

I'm using dollar store gel super glue... I guess I should try some different variety... but I'm pretty close to just tossing these Eagle Eyes. Very frustrating.

I'm not wanting to stick it through the Zoa, but through the super glue plate that's formed a base for it from my failed gluing attempts...

I would get stainless steel needles (I think that kind of metal is OK??)

Toss them my way LOL. Just rubber band them to the plug or small piece of rubble or try a better brand of glue.

I've never had luck glueing then placing under water. Putting them in a sequestered area will give them a little time to attach better using there own means.

I'd glue the free floaters to a piece of rubble. Place them in a plastic container with some veil mesh over the top.
