Thanks OFK! Means a lot! I can alway count on you to tag along and give me feedback. Much appreciated.

The skimmer that I got is a marineland marine pro 300.

I have the 80g full of water. Salt is mixing and is hearing up to temperature. Once it hits 78 and I get the sg right I will open the valve and get the systems working together.
After their running for a few i will take the rocks that are in the sump and 20g and put everything in the 80g.
That's the plan for this evening.

No need to apologize. I haven't quite decided yet. I think this is just going to be my garage tank. I honestly don't really know yet. Do you have any suggestions. Maybe just an area to grow out some corals.

Got the water where it needed to be in the 80g, then I opened it up. Let it sit for a few and equal out and then I transferred all the rock to the 80g. Both heaters are in the sump now and time to let it complete its cycle. Just a few things I need to do. Hook up an ATO, set up the light for the 80g, build some racks for both tanks, arrange the rocks the way I want them.
Going to keep both tanks bare bottom.
Here is a pic of the setup as it stands right now. Not the most beautiful but it's going and beginning its cycle.

Excuse the mess and the bad wiring. That will all be changed here soon. Looking to rewire the garage and add a separate breaker for just this system.

hmmmm......let me think on this.....I'm thinking corals - perhaps pieces that you could grow out for your display but I think that's what the frag tank is for.....gosh, I wouldn't think fish since you won't get to really enjoy them...perhaps some nice macro algaes? or what about a mantis shrimp? I'll keep thinking :)

Thanks OFK. I still haven't really decided exactly what I want to do yet. I think I am just going to set it up as my display tank in the garage. Just something to enjoy when I spend my time down there.

Update: the other day I was down in the garage working on a frag rack and looked in the empty 20g. Saw some water drips on the bottom of the corner. Thought I just had to tighten the bulkhead, no. The tank had cracked. Big big bummer. So I secured the 20g and left the 80g running. (I have LR in there cycling)

Instead of waiting and upgrading in the future to a larger tank like discussed earlier I decided to just do it now. I got a 40b from a local reefer.
    Here it is.

I still have to drill the tank, center it in the stand and redo some plumbing since the tank has different dimensions.
    So this should be fun.

so sorry to hear about the crack! What a pain! Looks like you took it in stride and make a great decision on what to do! Now, you'll have tons of room to grow out frags!

Thanks OFK. Yea, I took it well. At least it happens now and not when the tanks had livestock or corals. I found a local reefer that is gave me the tank for trade for acrylic work. Just have to do some minor alterations to the stand. Now the stand doesn't look so big for the tank.
I appreciate the kind and uplifting words.
    Much appreciated.

Today was a busy day. I pulled the old tank off the stand. Wen and picked up a 1 1/2" bulkhead fitting from a local reefer. Took my 55g barrel to scripps and got some saltwater. Don't normally use seawater but this tank is still cycling so it's not a big deal. Got home. Drilled the 40b and got it all set up on the stand. Replumbed everything. Set up the light. Filled the breeder up with water and it's heating. I still plan to redo the drain pipe. But here is how it sit right now. By the end of my night I will have this tank up and running.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Will do you know what kind of frags you're going to be propagating? I love the whole set up, it's right up my alley.
