Like the title says, we're taking our annual bus trip to the Chicago land area on a whirlwind tour- kind of the quest for the holy grail- in this case it's that must have piece of coral or must have fish.

If you're in the Chi-town area on March 1st, you could meet us at one of the stops (check tentative itinerary in the thread- in the 1st post)
You could chat, and have a beer with me/us, etc.

This is such a cool event put on by our club- The Wisconsin Reef Society

I had to miss last year for work, but made sure I was off this year!
I really don't even plan to but anything-(yea, right?), but to go with my comrades, and have fun for the day, while someone else drives, etc.

And as we're all professionals, many with advanced degrees as me (as if that really matters, scrap of paper- I know right?)

I'll leave you with one of my more framous quotes:

Everybody has to believe in something-

I believe,......................... I'll have another beer!

I think your local clubs should organize something similar as WRS does

I'm the guy with the ape looking chest and the massive biceps....

No Chris, I had to work last year, and that was last years pic.
I'll be in the pic tomorrow morning though. It'll be about -3 tomorrow morning.

If someone is in the Chitown area- you should meet up with us based on the itinerary in the post.

It's going to be fun! My goal is to be able to remember all the stops, and still drive home from the bus origin area tomorrow night. I'll stop drinking a few hours before we get back. We do stop for some good eats near some of the lfs'.

What an awesome trip that was!

I bought 2 fish- a Pajama Cardinal, and some type of Damsel- At the stop where they an awesome Mexican food restaurant in the same strip mall. I 'bundled' and got the 2 for $20.

Then at the third stop a got a really nice Maleranus(sp?) wrasse. my cost $36.

All are doing well in my QT- which is an impromptu salt bucket, with a air stone/sponge filter, a heater, and a fewchunks of PVC thrown in for hiding. They are all doing well.
The bucket does't make a pic really possible.

At the last store 'Beyond the Reef' (sounds like a Nemo sequel title)
I broke down and got a coral I've been wanting- $48
A Rose Milli- it already has excellent polyp extension!

And I now have my piece or Red Chalice, for $15 from a WRS member to be using in a coral growing competition amoungst our memebers who bought one of the frags.

Total time of the tour (a bitr longer 'cause we came back from Chitown to Milwaukee in a snow storm), 12 + hours! A total of 5- all salt water/coral specialty shops in the Chitown metroplex/ burbs.

glad you all had a great time with some good purchases. That's actually a pretty cool idea to have a growing contest :) Also, glad you all made it back safely in the storm....we're waiting to get hit today - ANOTHER snow storm arrgghhhh!

    Thanks Mindy,

It was a great trip! So much good comraderie in that group. Everyone's friendly, willing to help, etc.

It probably took almost twice as long to drive home, but oh well, we were all safe and sound.
Gave me a little time time to be a little more sober to drive homw from the park and ride also.

I know a few other regional groups do something like this I think, and if not, you should.
    If ya'll don't have a regional group/wet page, ya'll should start one!
