With all merchandise, you can get what you want almost anywhere for around the same price, SO ITS ALL ABOUT CUSTOMER SERVICE. They have failed in that department.

    Here is the latest reply:

    Dear Mr. XXX,

I will be happy to pass this along to management. I am sorry I was unable to resolve your issue to your satisfaction. Please be advised that they are out of the office this week.
Please let me know if I can assist you with anything else. I'll be happy to help. Have a good day!

Just a little info from the retailer's side of things in the credit card world. This is the impact it has on the merchant:

You have 90 days to dispute a credit card charge. Some card companies will allow you to make a claim even longer, but 90 is the industry standard.

    1. If you file a claim with your credit card issuer against a merchant they typically issue an immediate provisional credit back to your account.

    2. They then provide the merchant a document describing the complaint against them and charge them the amount of the disputed transaction. (Pulled directly from the account they pull the fees from, so the vendor can't really stop it.)

    3. The merchant can refute the charge by filling out proper paper work, documenting the case. They have to prove the delivered the service or that what ever complaint against them doesn't have merit.

    4. If they fail to provide proof of the transaction or fail to prove innocence, the provisional credit is finalized on your account and the merchant is stuck with the loss.

    5. If the merchant doesn't respond to the claim at all they lose.

    6. The merchant has the ability to contact customer to rectify the situation. And if this is completed to the buyer's satisfaction they may drop the chargeback.

    7. If the chargeback is upheld it is flagged against the merchant's account. Too many charge backs and their interchange rate increases. (Which mean more $$$ out of each transaction is taken by the card issuer as they see the vendor as a risk.)

    8. Too many chargebacks and they may revoke the merchant's account all together, or make the interchange & fees so astronomically high the merchant drops the card type or is forced to find another card payments processor.

Very interesting, seems the customer is always right! You would think they would have tried to solve my situation already with out making me go to my CC company.

Most smaller merchants don't know/don't understand all of the legalese fine print in the contract and agreement they sign up for with a credit card processor.

And some just don't care, or just decide the charge back is less hassle than taking care of the customer.

Well my dispute with the CC company has been filed. We will see what happens out of this. Either way, I am done shopping with this retailer! All of the management is out of the office for a week? Who the heck is in charge?

My mom used to have a small business, from what I remember of helping out, this all rings quite true. Good info tingle.

All the more reason that they should've worked with you to begin with, IMO.

Good luck. Nobody is in charge... ::)

Wow , after reading all this I decided I won't be dealing with saltwaterfish.com. I was about to make a rather large order since my LFS didn't carry radiata lionfish.

Thanks for letting us know what's going on.
