woke up to cloudy water????

    Ok got up this morn ,actinics kicked on and WHAT!!!...cloudy water.all fish do not seem to be stressed or any thing.hard to tell but corals seem to be opening ok..what could be the cause of this overnight..I did not move/dose/change anything...

    dkh 5.6 (low,been slowly increasing)
    temp 82(kinda hovers around 80 -82) but has always been this way since tank set up.

    filtration wet/dry w/ BB`s ,urchin skimmer ,phosban reactor and chaeto,LR

    supliments sea chem reef builder and buffer in top off(ro/di) kent mag kent cal, 1x week coral vit 1 capful.
    feedings alternate flake/frozen every 2-3 days..

    fish coral beauty, blue damsel, 2 clowns, cleaner shrimp(have not updated my sig)

    I added some carbon in a bag to the inflow of the wet/dry after seeing the cloudy water..any ideas ??? oh BTW tanks been up 2 ish yrs

    Take your finger and run it across the inside glass. Does it have a film of white?

    It sorta looks a little better since adding the carbon.(but not sure)

    The white film could have been a calcium deposit. Sometimes when adjusting you levels too quickly, it can cause the system to dump calcium as a deposit.

    Keep running the carbon and see what happens. You levels look fine.
    Do you have a nudibranch or anenome that could have passed?

    along with the cuc, anemone, did something spawn...clams etc?

    yes I have been leaving a few hrs in between adding cal and alk..

    Ummm my cucumber is moving about doing his thing.I have no anemones(after a bad encounter with one and a power head) a while back.
    also I have no clam so I dont think anything could have spawned that much lol lol...Thanks for the replies..

    Its probably just a bacterial bloom.... Nothing to worry about

    Not to sound so noob,but this can just come out of left field..how long before it starts to go away?? anything else I should do in the mean time..thanks...

    Just keep your tank well aerated as the bacteria can consume oxygen. Once its finshed consuming its source it will die back... :) Really nothing to worry about, you may even have a super clear tank afterwards ;D;D
