well we are having our windows redone and the guy to fix it is here now. my question is how worried should i be about the fumes from the stain and my tank? i am going to cover the tank and stand w/ a tarp regardless but are there any other measures i can take to ensure safety of my tank and inhabitants? im talking about the 37 in my sig so it does have a canopy.

if the fumes are going to be in the house, I would run the airline from my skimmer outside (super long tubing at wal-mart for the cheap) to keep fresh air in the water.

    +1 to that

And if you are staining within a couple feet of the tank I would cover it with plastic. Drops can fly amazing far, better safe than sorry imo.

Well I am not sure on this. But maybe it's just because I don't have many fish & didn't use that much stain? I re-stained my DIY stand about 6 months ago & didn't notice any problems. I think it may have been a low-odor kind of stain? Got it at Lowe's. Just opened the windows & let the house air out.

cool seano that makes me feel better, the tank is about 4" from the window frame being stained lol, and yea im going to cover the entire tank/stand w/ a tarp. also the windows will be open with plenty of air flow blowing out the window via lots-o-fans. atm there is no skimmer or air stones just power heads and water changes. should have the plumbing done this weekend or whenever my recirc pump shows up. and skimmer the following week.
