I was wondering if anyone had there tank near a woodburning stove? I was planning on moving my 90 into the living room. The only problem i see is it will be about 4-5 away from our fireplace with a woodburning stove that we heat part of the house with on COLD days.. but, around the area it gets very warm.. maybe 90s 2-3 feet away? Does anyone else have a tank near one and does it heat the tankup too much?

Hmm.. I had my small 6 gallon tank about 6 feet away from a potbelly fireplace. It was ok. But I'd be a little nervous about a big tank that was hard to move honestly and that sounds closer than what I had.

I think I am going to have to wait until we start using the woodburning stove and see how hot that area gets.. I wouldnt want to move it there now, and find out that I have to move it once we get the thing fired up this winter!
    Thanks

Good question, I am in the same situation. I just bought a home here in KC,MO and my fish room happens to have a wood burning stove as well. The tank would easily be 6ft away, but I was wondering what would happen. If you have a chiller that should do the trick.

No chiller, but I don't think it would heat the tank up that much.. I think it feels very warm near it, 4-5' away because we are compairing it to freezing cold winter away from it. But I still think I will wait and see.. not worth moving it twice.

We have a Vermont Castings Encore and the tank is 6 ft away and never a problem-and at the BTU's that it puts out!-I wouldn't worry. It will just help the heater do its job
