It has seemed like it has been ages since I have gotten a new saltwater fish. Golden Head Sleeper. I was at the LFS and saw this guy(for 7.99) and had to take him home. I read up on him before I gotem but some sites say that he is a low mantaince fish and others say it is difficult to keep. Anyone have any input on these fish? In the backround you can see my dying zoo's. [IMG]

i know that they sift the sand and like a developed sand bed, so if you have this then you should be good. i think.lol

As long as your water is good and your other fish don't bother him, he should do well in your tank. Really nice looking. I may have to look for one myself. ;)

I've never been able to keep them alive long term. Seems they eat all the bugs out of the sandbed and when they run out, they croak. Even if they're eating flake. I guess they just don't get as much nutrition that they need out of "prepared" foods. They also sift sand like mad so any corals that are close to where it is feeding will get covered with sand.

    Good luck my friend!

I had a pair of diamond gobies that were a solid 4 inches long, and they did really well to clean all the worms and growth in the sand. I even got them both to eat cubed foods from a stick and they would always come up when they saw me ready to feed. All way well until one day, the bigger one mysteriously died!?!?!?

The other one was going well for another while, but it would dissappear for days on end and only come out for a few mins and go back into hiding. One day it came right out and swam around, and it was as thin as paper. I tried feeding it again with everything but it would only take a few bites then go back and hide.

I hope you have more luck than i did!!

I hate poo poo-ing somebody's fish purchase but I figure that it's better to let you know my experience than to have you wondering. I wish you good luck with the fish and if you are able to keep it long term, please let us know how! :)
