dont worry to much about these worms, it is very rare to get the harmful kind that eat nems and corals and whatnot. I have a decent amount that come out once in awhile great free cuc if you ask me, some people even pay for em! Just make sure they dont get to big or they might be a problem and watch where you grab or touch in your tank they hurt like hell. I had a ton at one time but due to reduced feedings I havent had much of a problem with them.

Thanks to all three of you for your expertise,i looked them up and yes i'm very certain thats what they are.

Thanks Derk,i'm very familiar with bristles,i have just never seen them in this stage,it was very freaky(because it was in my tank)but had i watched it on tv it would have been very facinating to witness.

Now the bad part, everything looks great in the tank this morning, water has cleared up-so a good media basket cleaning is in order along with a water change and fresh carbon should have me set,but i am right in the middle of having the flu, feel like total crap with a 101 fever, and thats really the last thing i wanted to do today.Any volunteers are welcome and i'll show you where everything is at.:cheesy: Thanks again everyone.

Nope, you still have lots & lots of eunicids. :) An epitoke can be either the whole animal that's modified or the modified hind end which has broken off while the main body remains hidden in the rocks. In the case of the small eunicid species that live burrowed in rock it's only the hind end that swarms.
