I had a bunch of live rock given to me by a friend. I noticed this weird stuff on it he had no idea. I have been letting it dry out in the sun now for 2 weeks. Currently bleaching it for 2 days, then going to be drying for another 2 weeks at least.

At least that's what it looks like to me, those are their outer casings. All they do is pop out a little and filter feed. Dont sting or damage anything. Like I said though if you are drying it out and stuff I'm sure theyre all dead.

Except you said it's dry rock. This means it was live rock and therefore all the die-off will be a source of nutrients. You may want to soak in bleach, or better bleach then muriatic acid. Are you familiar with the process?

Is there still concern for nutrients after 2 weks in the sun And bleaching?

My sister has these all over her tank. They're kind of cool and annoying at the same time. When she moved the tank, you could feel them crunch as you pulled out rocks. Felt bad for smooshing them but there really are a ton. Anyway, they aren't harmful at all. Idk that they're incredibly beneficial either though.
