Okay, reading that gave me chills. I'm not kidding. I have goosebumps all over me! Out of all the weird things I've seen in my tank, the brittle stars really bother me.

Don't let them bother you. They're beneficial. What bothers me are the bristle worms in my tank. Those can sting you. The stars will just .. .slither.

Mine's a big boy. Reefcleaners.org sent a fairly beefy one (maybe 5-6 inches with legs spread out). He's camping out under a rock right now, I'm sure he'll scoot around and do his job nicely when the lights go out. I may actually get another for my fuge. I'm getting that built this weekend so I can properly plant my mangroves and implement a DSB. I think I under-ordered, I bought 10 reds, probably will get another 10 blacks. Plus another star ;)

    Sounds like a fun project!!

Yeah, my brittles are pretty big. I would say each one is 5-6 inches with legs spread out. I'm not worried about them hurting me, I just find them extremely disturbing. My bristle worms are gross, but they don't bother me as much for some reason. Though I do wish them dead!!

That's pretty much their nature, when they feed they dart out very quickly and return to their perching spot in like a NY second!! Its fun to watch;D.

Last night during feeding, the brittle star smelled the food and sent his creepy legs out of the rock, so I fed him. I did it!! He looooved the food. I shot it right at his legs and he grabbed about three pieces of shrimp. Ahhh, it was so gross, but also really cool.

I think I can make peace with him, it will just take me some time! Our relationship is still quite rocky. :-/
