Seems like every week there is a new LED fixture for reef aquariums.

As the technology gets better and the price comes down, would you consider buying one?

What price range would you find reasonable?

The savings in the bulb replacement $$$$ and electric bill $$$$ plus the heat from the metal halides all of those are good reasons to switch If they made a really bright one for around a grand I would be interested.

Heat and bulb replacement are the two things I don't like about MH's.

I love the programmable features of the Solaris. Not to mention built in moonlights, actinics, moon cycles.... etc.

Price would have to be really competitive to make me want to switch though...

I like the dimmable feature. Also, settings to simulate storms. I'd buy one if I had an extra 5g's laying around.

def yes if they all come with that in dash timer, light setting, like on the solaris.
That thing would be so sick to be able to change the colors of the light over a the course of a day, even year!!

but they would have to come down alot to be in my budget.
they are like the lcd/plasma tvs when they first came out. they were like 10-15 g's for the 42",the first year they came out, following year dropped to 5 they stayed steady at 5 for a while then really came down as more companies manufactured them. now you can get one for anywere from 300$-3000$+of all types and sizes.

got my samsung 42 " for 1000$ ;Dwhat a great day that was!

I would if the price was right, they seem to have way better functionality than MH it's just a matter of can they perform the same, performance on paper and actually keeping reefs alive don't always coincide and honestly they haven't been out long enough for me to want to jump in yet
