Wow that thing is crazy large! Personally I'd frag it if for no other reason for extra $$$ for new coral :)

You should be able to just snap one of the branches off with your hand. If not, if you can pull it out of the tank, a dremel tool works amazingly well. It has become my best friend since I started fragging.

I used to use bone cutters. Works real well for branching skeletons.

Bone nippers or even wire cutters work well...the trick is to "nip" at the very edge where you want it to break...don't try and use them to actually cut the branch all in one bite (if that makes sense). A dremel with a thin kerf diamond blade works really if you can get it in were you want it. It offers a bit more control over the bone nippers as sometimes the skeleton will splinter/shatter with nippers. Try and make your cuts low down on the branches...only the very top of each branch where there is tissue is alive, so the lower you go the less chance you'll do damage to the flesh if the cut doesn't go quite as planned.

As for where you should cut it or not is a personal choice. I have a huge hammer in my 125 display that get's lots of comments when people see the tank. It's been fragged a several times, but I hate to cut it, although I'll have to at some point again. On the other hand if it's growing well whatever you cut will should grow back/fill in in a few months.

Great tips thank you. I will keep them in mind when I go for it..I don't really want to cut it,but its outgrowing its spot and I have no other place to put..but at least I can trade/sell it..
